The persuasive research paper develops an argument that stems from a well-articulated thesis. The topic is open but should offer a critical analysis of an important aspect of the genre of the Western either in text or film or both. Throughout the course, we will explore several of these salient characteristics. For example, landscape, the battle between good and evil, the western hero, and more are key features in the genre in its traditional form but also in texts and films that depart from tradition. This thesis-driven, argument-based, 8-to-10-page research paper will feature a Works Cited Page that includes 4-to-5 scholarly sources.
