Write an essay in which you explore the problematic nature of religious questioning in Deens memoir. Why is such an attitude, which most of us would find attractive, so dangerous and so disapproved within his Hassidic sect? How do we regard Deen by the end of the narrative? Are we relieved, glad, upset, betrayed? Consider the rhetoric he uses as well in order to determine how it influences our judgment of him and the Jewish faith he describes in the book.
