After choosing your topic, write a thesis statement and an outline that includes the suggested areas for exploration as headings
The practice of planning out a task before starting it–and receiving feedback on that plan–is common practice in the professional workplace. Whether you share the plan with coworkers or a supervisor, your professor or an EWC advisor, the purpose is the same: For everyone to be “on the same page.” Analyzing Your Assignment Here’s the basic question you’re trying to answer in this thread or whenever you analyze a writing assignment: What must my paper contain in order to meet all of my professor’s expectations? Below are the assignment instructions for your research paper. Let’s find out! Assignment Directions BEHS 210 Research Report: For Delivery to Ira Katznelson Due: September 30 Style Sheet: APA. No title page or abstract. Info block in top left corner of first page. 12-point Times New Roman. Double space throughout. Less than 10% quotations. Word docs only. Length: 2500 words minimum plus Cover Letter & References Instructions: You have received a letter from Professor Ira Katznelson, president of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) in New York City. He knows that you are a famous professor in Social & Behavioral Sciences at UMUC. The SSRC will present research on four critical issues to the legislators and to the President of the United States. He needs your help! Choose one of these four critical issues below to explore for Professor Katznelson. You must apply research from sociology, psychology, economics, and politics to the issue. This is not an opinion paper. You are compiling and presenting the most up-to-date, reliable and credible evidence on the issue. You will start with scholarly research and government and demographic data, but also will consult the popular press. BE CAREFUL!! Vet your sources. You want the most objective and reliable news sources. Read the entire article before using. Is the writer simply encapsulating research or government data? If so, go to the original source. Is your source biased? Some news sources are extremely biased or are think tanks funded by the right or left. Investigate your sources!
