For this assignment, you will conduct research on a public health law found in three states. Select a law that has state variations (for example, cannabis use, gun ownership, smoking, telehealth prescribing laws) and then write a five- to six-page paper that addresses these prompts: Explain the variations in the law in three states and the related public health issues and outcomes. For example, if you select HIV partner notification laws, describe the state laws and the impact the law has had on infection rates in each state, if available. If you cannot locate data related to the outcome of the specific law, then include relevant research. Using the partner notification example, you would include research on the outcomes of efforts to notify partners or if the law is a barrier to those seeking testing. Describe any ethical issues that may be of concern to people and/or organizations that are affected by the law or that support the law. Based on your research, identify components of the different state laws to craft your ideal law addressing that public health concern. The State Public Health Law Paper is due in Module 8 and should be five to six pages in length, double-spaced. Your paper should have an introduction, the main points explained in the body of the paper, and a summary. All papers must be in APA format and include a title and references pages. The title and reference pages are not included in the page count. Make sure all references are from reliable sources, such as government documents, peer-reviewed journals, and academic websites.
