Part 3: Re flective written piece concerning your professional learning and development
as a nurse
Professional growth through learning : Throughout the semester, we have placed great
emphasis on person-centred care, professionalism and ethical practice as core to the practice
of a responsible nurse. Ensure that you have a good understanding of these concepts when
responding to Part 3 Assessment task 3.
Prepare a one (1) page summary of your learning journey of responsible nursing practice,
focusing on the key concepts: person-centred care, professionalism and ethical practice.
As this is a reflective writing piece, use the first person approach, i.e. use of pronouns such
as œI or œme is expected.
In your eWorkbook you are directed to respond to weekly assessment-related tasks to
guide your professional learning and personal growth. Use your response to Part 3 task to
inform your re flective written summary, in particular from weeks 4 to 11.
Provide evidence of your ongoing engagement to your professional learning and
development. Attach your selected evidence (at least 3 from weeks 4 to 11), which you
have cited in your reflective written summary.
Every week, you are presented with a clinical scenario to analyse and plan nursing
interventions and prepare documentations, within which you utilise the FILA, SOAP and SBAR
frameworks when responding to the case scenario. You then perform your planned nursing
interventions during Laboratory sessions. Responding to these weekly tasks prepares you for
Assessment task 3, as the processes are the same, where you are required to document your
nursing intervention and justify your clinical decisions based on evidence. Therefore, you need
to make sure that you are regularly contributing to FILA activities and discussions in your
group on a weekly basis, and get feedback from your nursing student colleagues and tutor
about your responses to case analysis and intervention planning during Laboratory sessions.
You also need to ensure that you are engaging regularly with the weekly assessment-related
tasks, as outlined on your eWorkbook.
Parts 1 & 2 of Assessment task 3 form part of your written assignment in essay format. Your
written assignment must adhere to academic writing conventions, i.e. you need to present
arguments and opinions, and use evidence from the literature to support your position, using
appropriate referencing conventions. Use the A3 Marking Criteria when preparing your essay.
