Risk of Developing Venous Thromboembolism in I

The name of my research project is Risk of Developing Venous Thromboembolism in Immobilized

Patients.

My PICO question for the project is

PICO question: In immobilized patient who is at risk for developing venous thromboembolism, how

does pharmacological prophylaxis (antiplatelet agents) compared to mechanical prophylaxis

(intermittent compression devices) affect the development of venous thromboembolism within 1

week of treatment?

1. Describe similarities in research methods across the four studies

2. Describe differences in research methods across the four studies.

3. Discuss the practical or clinical significance of the findings to the evidencebased practice of

nursing.

4. Provide an answer to the PICO question, or describe why you are not able to definitively answer

the question.

5. References should include 4 articles you have picked and 1 more additional reference you allowed
