Imagine: For your foundation year MSW internship, you have been placed at an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for those stepping down from inpatient or residential substance abuse treatment. Many of the agency’s clients have co-occurring disorders, with depression and anxiety being the most common. Clients typically spend 4-6 weeks at the program, as insurance allows. You have been running a psychoeducational group on cognitive distortions regularly throughout the duration of your year-long field placement.
