Explain all the stages of the infectious disease cycle related to transmission caused by gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli.

The Show more A healthy 38 year old female presents to the emergency department with signs/symptom of syncope. The team of treating Physicians and nurses are trying to understand the underlining cause to treat this condition. While interviewing a family member explaining that she works with infections agents primarily bacterial species; they gain more insight to what may be the cause of her condition. Knowing this valuable information and having a good understanding of microbiology; assuming this is a bacterial infection which could be caused by Gram-negative bacteria that can lead to systemic shock that affects the physiology of the host associated with toxins. 1- Explain all the stages of the infectious disease cycle related to transmission caused by gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli. 2- Explain the pathogenicity/virulance of gram negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli that produce the Shiga-toxin and how this pathogenicity can cause inflammation which can lead to systemic shock. 3- How is the immune response being stimulated by this pathogenand why is the immune response over reacting leading to severe damage to organs relating this to the initial sign/sympton of syncope. 4- After receiving blood work results indicating increase white blood cells count of 20000 more than likely this is related to a bacterial infection. Assuming gram negative there needs to be treatment to decrease to WBC. What type of antibiotic should be administered? Show less
