How, specifically, are they foils? (Explain by referring to specific details from the work.) Why does the author construct them as foils? Imagine you’re writing a paper about this story using this critical approach (or through the lens of that critical school), and come up with a rough thesis statement (1-2 sentences) for that hypothetical paper. 2 points 8. Explain by referring to specific details from the work. 2 points 10. Identify an image pattern that is used in two works we read (including The Giver, if you’ve read ahead). These two works can be from different time periods and genres, but the image/image pattern itself must be more or less the same. What does the image mean metaphorically in each work?
