Evidence based practice project on the opioid addiction
Do you foresee any issues with the implementation of your project? Identify stakeholders who could assist in supporting you, and any theoretical frameworks (organizational change, leadership, role-specific) or models that could help you adapt. Here is where it discusses the implementation of my project, from a previous discussion question which is what you are responding to. “From the PICOT developed for NUR-550, the change initiative will focus on the creation of additional treatment centers for the addicts as well as on the community awareness programs that deal with opioid addiction and overdose. If we assume that the research is correct and the introduction of more treatment centers for opioid users aged 25 to 55 years and promotion of community awareness programs will lead to a decline in opioid overdose by 20% to 50% and deaths over a two-year period, then clearly this option should be chosen among other less effective alternatives. As it is the case in all cases of decision-making, having more than one working alternative is normal policy. The initiative clearly supports the population in focus by proving them with effective treatment that will not only reduce opioid use but also will reduce opiates-related deaths by a statistically significant percentage. If the goal is to reduce drug use and drug-related deaths, then clearly new treatment centers look like a viable solution. My role would be to make the community know about the important role of treatment centers and community awareness programs as well as personal involvement in the proper functioning of these treatment centers, including their proposed programs and solutions. The problem selected to investigate is amenable to a research-based intervention using the PICOT format because PICOT is ideal for exploring questions related to diagnosis, etiology, therapy/prevention as well as prognosis (Evidence-Based Practice in Health, 2019). PICOT stands for population/patient/problem, intervention, comparison (of alternatives), outcome and time frame to achieve the outcome (Riva et al, 2012). In the chosen problem it is necessary to precisely assess the problem, explore the alternatives and find a viable solution, which comprises treatment centers and community-awareness programs. This PICOT format is succinct, rational and clear in exploring the given problem related to opiates use and abuse. As of present, the problem related to drug use was clearly identified and the solution was chosen; nonetheless, it is recommended to constantly explore other possible solutions. Furthermore, it is necessary to regularly evaluate the given solution and detect areas of change and improvement to assure long-term reduction of opiate-related deaths and overdose problems. This is in the USA, and is a very difficult class. If you need any further information to support the answer to the question, please advise.
