Prevention of Pressure Ulcers

Introduction: Describe your nursing topic and the purpose of your literature review, including the rationale or reasoning for why you chose the topic. PROVIDED HERE: Pressure ulcers have been shown to be preventable, and yet the rates of pressure ulcers remain high in the United States. Nurses are at the frontline of care for patients and play a large role in the prevention of hospital and long-term care facility acquired pressure ulcers and yet they still occur. It is the nurse’s duty to recognize those at risk for pressure ulcers and provide the needed preventative care. What will be addressed are the constraints for why the EBP may not be being performed and proven methods to help decrease the number of pressure ulcers in a hospital. The purpose of my literature review is to further investigate the kinds of evidence-based practice (EBP) that are the norms for pressure ulcer prevention and why they are the best practices for nurses to use. Then, I would like to be able to describe what the literature states are the barriers to implementing the appropriate pressure ulcer prevention measures. I would then like to identify the gaps in the literature and what still needs to be researched regarding these matters. Analysis Discuss the articles reviewed in the study.
