This section includes an introduction to the topic and the specific research questions or hypotheses that you want to study. You should answer the following questions in this section: • What is your topic? • What is the relevance of this topic? • What has been done on the topic previously, (very brief)? • What is the area you are interested in specifically? • What are your research questions or hypotheses? – this part can be written in bullet form and should come at the end of this section Literature review This section will include a review of all the relevant literature that exists on your topic. You must use at least 15 sources (and cite them within this section) and they should cover the breadth of information that covers your topic. You should use section headings when discussing specific elements of your topic. These sections of your paper will be between 5-10 pages total. This section will include your proposed method for researching your research questions or hypotheses. You should include the following sections: Subjects/Data sources – who are what are you studying? Be very specific, if it is people, tell me how many and what their characteristics are. If it is a data source, tell me what part of the source you will use. – how will you gain access to this sample? How is this sample representative of the general population to which it belongs? What sampling technique will you use? Design – what type of research will you be performing? Explain why you think this is the best way to measure the questions you are studying – provide a step-by-step layout of how you will perform your research – meaning, say exactly what you will do Variable measurement – What is the independent variable, how is it defined (conceptualized) and how will it be measured (operationalized)? What is the dependent variable, how is it defined (conceptualized) and how will it be measured (operationalized)? Ethical considerations – what types of ethical considerations must be considered for your project and how are you attempting to reconcile them? Validity and reliability – tell me how you will assess if your research method is valid and reliable
