NONPROFIT HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS AND THEIR SECTION RELATED TO EMPLOYMENT
July 19, 2019 Off All,
Visit several websites of nonprofit health organizations and review their section related to employment. (If there is no employment section or jobs posted on their website, move on to other nonprofit health groups so you will have a good selection to examine.) Also, check some of the “help wanted” sources (paper or online) to see if you find announcements for an executive director’s position of a nonprofit. Explain or give detail, at a minimum, for the following information about this executive director position: -What are some general characteristics they are looking for to fill these positions (e.g., experience, education level, competencies)? -Do they give information about the history and purpose of the organization? If so, in what way? -Do you get the sense that these nonprofit employers are explaining the environment in which you will work (place, people, or organizational culture)? -Do you get the sense that these nonprofit employers are making a point about the intrinsic rewards afforded when working for their purpose/mission? -How would you compare and contrast these job announcements with those you have seen in the private and government sectors? Just poke around to a few private and government adds to see… -In your opinion, and from what you can discern from the “help wanted” announcements, what competency or competencies do you feel these employers are really looking for when hiring an executive director of their nonprofit?
