Prepare an essay/reflection that assesses your values that influence your ethical decision making. How are these connected to your cultural/ethnic/family (I was brought up by a loving family and a single mother would would have given her life for her children) values and experiences? How will the counseling profession allow you to enact your values? How will it allow you to develop more fully as a moral being? What incompatibilities, if any do you see as existing between your and professional role and responsibilities? How do you plan to resolve, minimize or accept these incompatibilities (ACCEPT)? Write in the first person as needed. Use specific ethical questions that reflect your concerns. e.g. counseling a minor regarding pregnancy, family values affecting first generation children, domestic violence or infidelity, religious differences, teen’s career choices, abortion, hospice, etc.
