WRITTEN CRITIQUE ON DISASTER NURSING

Instructions: For this task you need to write a 1200 word essay. Choose ONE of the topics from Assessment Item 1 and focus on a specific aspect of this topic – disaster nursing. In your essay you must: 1. Provide a review of the literature by summarising the main issues presented in 4 to 6 articles that you have read related to your chosen topic. 2. Critically evaluate evidence in the relevant literature which outlines the role and contribution of nurses to the provision of safe and effective care within the context of your topic. 3. Further critique the literature by discussing your findings in relation to the directives outlined in one of the related international code of practice or framework (provided on L@G). You should structure your essay using the following Five (5) headings: 1. Introduction – Introduce the topic to ensure the reader can contextualise the paper. You need to specify which aspect of your topic you are reviewing as these are very broad. 2. Review of Literature – concisely summarise the 4-6 articles that have been reviewed. 3. Evaluation – Evaluate the role and contribution of nurses and include any implications for clinical practice, nursing administration, education or research relevant to the literature for your topic. 4. Discussion – Identify and discuss areas where recommendations of the related international code of practice (WHO) or framework (ICN) for your topic is supported by reference to the provided documents and the literature reviewed. 5. Conclusion – conclude the paper by summarising the arguments presented.
