AUSTRALIAN COMMISSION ON SAFETY AND QUALITY IN HEALTH CARE
July 4, 2019 Off All,
• Read the 2017’s Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care document titled; “National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards” https://www.safetyandquality.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/National-Safety-and-Quality-Health-Service-Standards-second-edition.pdf . The Standards are designed to assist health service organisations to deliver safe and high quality care. The document details eight National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the tasks required to fulfill them. • Adapt any 4 of the eight standards in this document to develop a patient safety and quality framework for UAE healthcare settings. In addition to a brief (400-500 words) literature review section related to the UAE context, each of the four standards adapted, as well as 2 associated tasks/actions you propose to meet or exceed the standards, will be assessed out of a total of 7 marks. Note that while your selected four headline standards are expected to be the same as that in the document, your overall intention of each standard, one related criterion, and two associated tasks/actions must be significantly different from those described in the document, otherwise marks deduction penalty will apply. • The introductory section is expected to review a regulatory process for quality assurance in UAE (e.g. Department of Health regulatory manuals or DHA health regulation department) as well as a commentary on UAE healthcare quality profile based on the Legatum prosperity index 2018 ranking of 10th out of 148 countries: https://www.prosperity.com/data-explorer?country=USA,GBR,ARE&rankOrScore=&val=rank_heal&year=2007,2008,2009,2010,2011,2012,2013,2014,2015,2016,2017,2018&type=line&flipXY=f
